Songs from BORDERLINE, KISS MY AZTEC, BOOMERANGS, and more at my Larson Legacy Concert 9/25/2021

“Wanna Go Out?” - from BORDERLINE
SETUP: While everyone is stuck inside, we thought we'd share a song from our new musical BORDERLINE that speaks to dating during this crazy time! We find Anna in the waiting room of her psychiatrist where, after weeks of awkward banter with a guy named Jesse, he finally attempts to ask her out on a date.

During COVID, I wrote a bunch of songs for a movie musical called I’M NOT GAY, about an MMA fighter with a shit ton of emotional trauma who pretends to be gay (or so he says) in order to buy a house on Fire Island. Here’s a selection of some songs from the film. If you want to hear any of the songs in full, check them out here!

“Old Country” from AFTERLAND
Set in the post-apocalypse, this song was originally written in 2011 when the world was much different than it is today. It was from the perspective of people from the future telling stories about how the old world had ended, essentially their origin myth. This video was produced in the fall of 2020 in the ramp up to the election, and the words remained exactly as they’d been in the show, with only tweaks to the dialogue. Did we predict the future back in 2011 or what??

"Prom Was a Promise" - from Starblasters

SETUP: After losing his job and moving back in with his parents, Neil returns to work at the same local theme park where he worked summers in high school. It's his first time back since leaving for college and he is immediately confronted by his ten-year-old feud with his ex-concessions colleague and former best friend, Freddie.

"Erica Save Me" - from Starblasters

SETUP: Neil finally learns that all this time, Freddie has been madly in love with Erica. Pining for years from the concessions stand, but unable to tell her, Freddie admits that the best part of her day is watching Erica "save" the audience on the Starblaster ride.

"Seriously Serious" - from Untitled Young Einstein Musical

SETUP: This song follows Mileva, the woman Albert will eventually marry. She has just discovered she's been accepted into the prestigious Polytechnic Institute of Zurich as the only woman in the class and vows to show everyone she has what it takes to be a woman in science.

"Old Country" - from Afterland

SETUP: Set in the woods outside a decimated Philadelphia, AFTERLAND follows a group of survivors who created an insular, cult-like community designed to erase the painful memories of the past and provide a fresh start for its members.
